I think I may have a dental abfraction on an upper back tooth. Has anyone ever had one before and if so, what treatment did you have?

Try rubbing some Sensodyne toothpaste over the tooth for about 1 minute and then leave it on the tooth. Do that twice a day and observe any changes in the symptoms.

You can use any Sensodyne actually. Can eat and drink as normal after 5 minutes of application. It doesn't take it away completely, but it makes any sensitivity a lot less.

Abfraction lesions typically appear like small cracks on the tooth. Do you perhaps have a photo you can share?

Is it your last molar? Abfraction lesions do not cause gum pain. Does a piece of your gum cover your back tooth?

It is not easy to give advice on this case without a clearer clinical picture. I would suggest seeing a dentist in person who can assess the area in question more clearly.
