I had noticed when I flossed that it felt like the floss was going deeper between some of my teeth. So it turns out I needed a planing and scaling ( which was very expensive to boot). The procedure did not seem to warrant the cost. It was mostly a regular cleaning but she also used some sort of laser? Light. Then I received an oral b IO electric toothbrush “gratis” at the completion. This makes me think the charges have something to do with the dentists affiliation with a major company? What the heck.
Anyway my question is, especially for post menopausal women: what can we do now? How do we stop this from progressing? Should we see an actual periodontist? I was shocked the hygienist did this and they didn’t send me to a specialist. I got no recommendations for toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, anything to stave off future problems. Is this the norm? I am really stressed out now . I always took care of my teeth and the Menopause curse did this to me anyway. Any advice, help? Thank you.
