Can I have composite bonding ON TOP of my clear aligners (not on my actual tooth)

Hi there,

I have had composite bonding on my front tooth because it is so misaligned for about 2 years. I finally decided to sort out my teeth properly with clear aligners, but in order to move everything properly, I need to have the composite bonding removed from my front tooth. It's incredibly unsightly, and even with my aligners on, I am worried that I will be embarrassed to even speak because of the state of my front tooth. I'd like to know if I am able to have a composite added to my actual aligners, so that it masks that tooth, until the aligners start to work and move it into the right position. Any help/advice gratefully received!

Why does the entire filling need to be removed? Do you have a photo of your front tooth at the moment? Usually a filling does not bond to an aligner and most likely you will need to change your aligner sets every 2-3 weeks, depending on your treatment plan. Maybe discuss your concerns with your treating clinician. There could be an alternative.

Thank you for your reply! I was told that to do a thorough job on moving my teeth, the composite would need to come off my front tooth, so they knew where they needed to move it to. I've attached a picture of me without the composite on and then one with it on, the difference is massive. I do want to straighten my teeth but I am very worried about having to have my front tooth looking like this for several months whilst it's moving to the correct position. My concern is that the aligners have now been made, and I can't rerequest them with the composite on?

I don't think it will be possible to attach the composite to the aligners. Luckily teeth move very quickly, so you should not have an unaesthetic appearance for too long.
