Bump on childs gum after premolar extraction and spacer removal

Hi, my 5 year old had an extraction followed by a crown on her molar and a space maintainer. The space maintainer was removed about 3 weeks ago after it started causing swelling. I have noticed a semi-squishy bump on the extraction site for the past several days and wondering if this is alarming? It doesn’t look like an abscess, it feels like gum tissue and doesn’t bother her at all. I have sent a message to her dentist, hoping to not have to go back since she has sensory issues and the spacer removal was absolutely horrible, screaming and hitting, etc. I wasn’t able to get a great angle on the spot, but will attach a pic. Thank you.

Difficult to see clearly, but it does look like only gum tissue. I do not think it is necessary to worry at this stage.

I know it, not an ideal angle. Thank you, that is reassuring. I assumed it was from the trauma and irritation? Is that accurate? Is there a point where I should be concerned or can these just stick around until the permanent tooth comes in? Thank you.

while any new development following dental procedures warrants attention, the characteristics you’ve described suggest that this bump may not be alarming but rather part of normal healing. However, ongoing communication with your dentist is crucial for personalized advice tailored to your child’s situation.

If an ulcer develops or the area becomes painful, then go back to your dentist. If not, then everything should progress normally.

Yes, it seems like after the space maintainer was removed, the tissue started to form. I’m thinking that the maintainer inhibited it from happening? I’m definitely going to keep an eye on it and keep contact with my dentist. Thank you.
