Braces or Invisalign - what to choose?

I've just completed a course of Invisalign and now have a posterior open bite after treatment.

I'm now going to an orthodontist to get it fixed, but what worries me is when I wore aligners the molars would intrude whenever I was wearing full trays due to teeth grinding - they came down after a couple of weeks wearing tray with the backs cut off, but will this mess up treatment and monitoring progress? Should I choose braces instead?

I'm also planning to start a family in the next few months - it doesn't look like there's a better option out of braces or Invisalign, is that right?

How big is the posterior open bite? Fixed braces is always the gold standard when it comes to getting teeth in the correct position, since Invisalign can be limited in the amount and type of movement that can be achieved and is also dependant on your specific type of malocclusion prior to initiating treatment.

I went through a similar struggle where my clenching actually pushed my back teeth up during treatment, creating that same annoying gap that made chewing feel so "off." If you're planning to start a family, I honestly found that braces were a lifesaver because I didn't have to deal with the constant hassle of popping trays in and out during morning sickness or busy doctor appointments.

Braces can exert a lot more control over tooth movements than Invisalign. The orthodontist I used to use would advise his Invisalign patients that they would probably need a 3-month course of braces at the end of Invisalign to fine-tune the result to his satisfaction.
Invisalign is just a technique that has better aesthetic value for patients, and lets some general dentists get into ortho cases. But the cases must be carefully selected or, like you, they end up going to an orthodontist anyway. Who should pay for a poor Invisalign result from a general dentist?
