Amalgam Removal

I recently had to have 2 amalgam fillings removed. During the procedure, water was spraying out of my mouth at times. Would the presumably small amount of amalgam that escaped the suction device and possibly sprayed out with the water landing on my skin and clothes be cause for concern? I shook the clothes out outside and took a shower as soon as I got home. Then I read an article about someone almost dying showering hot after a thermometer broke on him (that obviously was way more mercury exposure). The dentist seemed nonchalant about my mercury questions. I don't think he did anything wrong, but seems the removal procedure would have some risk of residual debris escaping the mouth no matter the controls? Don't want my washer, etc contaminated, but mostly just curious?

Why were the amalgam fillings removed may I ask? Hopefully not for any aesthetic reasons or fear of amalgam poisoning.
The small amount of amalgam that you might have ingested during the removal process is not of any concern. So I would not be worried if I were you. You did not even have to take a shower afterwards.
