Amalgam fillings and pain

Today I went to the dentist for a normal check up. But then the dentist told me that I had a bunch of cavities. I have never got that many before, as I had 6 amalgam fillings but he said that I had 20. So then he drilled and drilled. He didn’t use numbing or water. This is before the appointment

And this is after

I’ve my friends are mistaking them for cavities and laughing at me and I have to explain that they’re amalgam fillings. Also the pain is unbearable. I can’t sleep, eat or even open my mouth. And I can’t contact my dentist. Can some one please explain to me?

It sounds like you might have been over-treated judging by the photo. Did you have any x-rays taken to confirm these so called cavities?
