I came to my dentist for extreme pain in my mouth after waking to swollen lips and swollen mouth. He started doing root canals on a lot of teeth, but it never relieved the pain and 2 teeth have been a nightmare. The pain was a lingual wire that broke and I pulled the piece out myself.
My dentist did root canals on 2 teeth and I ended up with greater pain. These had to be redone by an Endodontics doctor because of severe pain and reinfection. I was still having extreme pain when biting down and have had numerous infections. I had pain from physically bending over from my waist down, I would have pain. If I had any work done, anywhere in my mouth, the only area of my mouth that will ache is these 2 teeth and they ache terribly for a few days following any dental work. I just had an apicodectomy on both because the pain was really bad again. I had another infection and was tr. It's not a hot or cold pain. It' a pain when I bend over or when I bite down. It is best in the morning. After I eat or brush my teeth, the teeth feel raised up and moved out of place, pushed forward or backward. Please help. I've been through all the neurology testing and that has been ruled out. Suggestions? Help? Advice? Next steps? I am so over this.

First off, your dentist should not do root canals without a legitimate diagnosis. The diagnosis should include the pulp and the periapical tissues. Just because you have pain does not mean you need root canals. I cannot undo the procedures. I suspect you may be grinding and or clenching. Your pain should be properly diagnosed and sourced. To make it easier for the dentist to diagnose, please provide as much detail such as "while bending over," point to the location of pain and how intense and how long, etc. I get patients who say they have pain (vague) and want me to read their minds or play God and magically make their pain go away. Luckily I know what questions to ask (many inexperienced or incompetent dentists may not).

I do not see this dentist anymore. When I refer to pain when I bend over (example: tie my shoes), I have pain in the area midway between my teeth and my chin. It will ache and ache and run up to those affected teeth (and the neighboring teeth). Since the apico, I do NOT feel the pain in the mid section (between teeth and chin). Now the only areas I feel it are at the teeth and gum level. My mornings start feeling somewhat good, the best part of the day, but every time I brush or eat, my lower teeth feel like they rise up or move forward or back, out of place. The teeth actually felt better when I still had the sutures in from the apico because it felt "tight" in those areas. The Endo doc that did the apico feels like they have done all they can. I have also been to a neurologist and had extensive testing to eliminate autoimmune. No nerve issues. Do you have any suggestions or a type of specialist or someone to see? This has taken an extreme toll on me, from my diet (what I can and can't eat) to my pocket book. I just want to feel good again. this can't be that difficult? Please...fresh eyes?

Try Over-the-Counter Night guard at your local drug store. You may consider TMJ specialist referred by your physician to be covered by medical insurance (in the US). If you have a dental school near your location, consider seeking an experienced faculty dentist (dental school instructor) or a well respected experienced general dentist and get a full opinion.
