I had my two first mandibular molars extracted (36 and 47) and replaced by implants, which went very smoothly. Now it is time to add crowns.
My dentist submitted a preauthorization to my insurance claiming I also need a crow for tooth 47 (second molar).
Tooth 47 is perfectly healthy, it has a 20-year old filling but there are no problems. I don't see any need to mutilate and de-stabilize it. All my clencher friends have bitten through several crowns so that their affected teeths had to be eventually extracted.
Why create a ticking time bomb?
Possible answer: tooth 47 has been worn down as seen well in the panoramic.
I attach all imaging I can find, pre- and post- implant.
