Dark spot on gum line

I just noticed this dark spot on my gum line this morning. I'm not sure what it is and wanted to see if a dentist or someone else with a similar issue could give some feedback. I would rather wait to see if it's serious before shilling out money at the dentist.

It is hard to tell from the picture if its at the tooth portion at the gum line Or actually in the gum!! If its on the tooth, it could be a cavity or calcified plaque ( calculus) Either way, you need to get it checked by a dentist .
